I am often drawn to these kind of street scenes, filled with warm light and patterns of shadows. In our American streets, there is such a vast vernacular of types that make up the character of our cities and neighborhoods.
This particular neighborhood is a short distance from where i live, but almost a world apart. The street in this view is heading downhill towards the nearby river. The trestle bridge, very near, and over the hose central to the composition, is the CSX rail line. I was sitting under the Route 2 vehicular (and pedestrian) bridge as i took in this scene. As the house lined street falls towards the water, there is “no outlet”!
